Central Park from Mike Payne

Lochore Miners Welfare's Central Park has changed in recent years. The entrance is behind one of the goals and a slight incline takes the fans up past the clubhouse. A refreshments kiosk can be found on the pitch side of the building, and hot and cold food can be bought here. The ground now has a smart, small covered enclosure, while the pitch was returfed in 1998 at considerable expense to the club. It is a very neat and tidy ground and a credit to the club.

Social Club: unknown

Club Information:

Benarty and Lochore Miners Welfare merged in the summer of 1999 to form a new club. Lochore Welfare had merged the previous season with Lochore Miners to form Lochore Miners Welfare! The team reverted to the original new name of Lochore Welfare for 2001-02.

Anyone paying a visit to Central Park will find a club that, while it doesn't have much money, has a well kept ground, is friendly and very ambitious.

Crosshill was once a very prosperous mining area, but when the pits closed and the inevitable job cuts began to hit hard, that standard of living slipped. The community is fighting back however against poverty in the region.

Crowds currently can rise to a good couple of hundred for some games.

The Scone Thistle ground from Graeme McGinty

The ground, named after a local botanist who discovered the Douglas Fir, is enclosed in a way with temporary fences blocking off various illegal entry points. There's no cover and no fencing and the pitchside has a tendancy to be a little wet. The lines are marked with sawdust. The changing rooms/clubhouse building is very small, although cups of tea are available at half time to the crowd.

Social Club: There is no social club.

Club Information:
Scone can attact around 50 on a good day. If you fancy a drink before the game, there are a couple of pubs in the village. The Aerodrome Inn is nearest to the ground, and an alternative to that is the Scone Arms although both are quite small. There is also the Wheel Inn although it is mostly a family-eating-out food chain eatery. It is however the closest place for a drink.

There is a large, new social club behind the goal furthest away from the town centre, and the pitch area is not fenced off at all here. Flat expanses of red gravel terracing lines the Langlands Road side, with two covered shelters provided. Opposite there was once a very quaint small main stand that seated just under fifty but it has been removed.
