Gibbshill Park's stand c/o Graeme McGinty

Harthill's ground from Tony Collins

The roof blew off the rickety old enclosure a few years ago and there was a plan to replace the it but after a spate of break-ins (including the theft of the club mower) and illegal removal of other equipment to the tune of £5,000, there's no money in the kitty to fund the replacements. There is however a newish pavilion, built around six years ago and there's a five-a-side pitch behind the home goal. The teabar is reputed to be excellent.

Club Information:
Harthill have a home following of around 40. They joined the Juniors prior to season 1992-93 when they switched from the amateur ranks (their previous name was Harthill Royal Bar - deemed inappropriate for the Juniors). Incidentally, Gibbshill Park used to be known as Beechbank Park and was the home of now defunct side Polkemmet Juniors, who went under in 1988.

Two views of Station Park from Graeme McGinty

Recreation Park from Brian Weir

Recreation Park from Tony Collins

Recreation Park is a well-looked after (but devilishly hard to find) ground with a large enclosure down one side, with portakabins behind one of the goals which sell the usual refreshments. Despite the fact that there is no social club, there is a dedicated entry from the pub car park next to the enclosure, which is very handy! The ground is surrounded by grass banking.

The pub next door is great. There is also a shop in the village.

A number of Sauchie views from Paul Crankshaw

Two views of the spruced up Beechwood Park from Graeme McGinty

Sauchie's new stand seats 200 approx and is a very impressive construction. The facilities below are not finished yet but will include a social club and snack bar.

Sauchie also purchased the covered terracing from Falkirk's old Brockville and have used it to replace the old covered terrace on the opposite side of the ground. Also from Brockville they have the old Falkirk floodlights - Sauchie have played Dumbarton and Falkirk in midweek friendlies under the lights. Finally, they have the large perspex dugouts from Falkirk's old ground.

The Beechwood Park enclosure from Rodger Shearer

Two views of Beechwood Park from Tony Collins

A bold welcome message painted onto the back of the enclosure at Beechwood Park is probably the first thing a visitor to the ground will see, and upon entering the ground, you will see that this is a vast open venue. The main feature of the ground is a set-off-centre adequate and open shed/enclosure for that provides cover for any fans in attendance.

The changing rooms are next to the covered section, while the pitch is surrounded by the customary blaes track (quite popular in the East region, it would seem). The remainder of the ground consists of flat expanses of grass that surround the oval, fenced off by black and white railings. The local bowing club tends to double as a club social venue. There is a teabar in the ground however.

Social Club: There is no social club

Club Information:

The club were a very successful junior outfit from 1928 until 1959 before they went out of business. They reformed as a juvenile side, before turning junior again in 1983. For big cup games at Beechwood Park, around 100 locals can be tempted to come along and watch. League games attract far fewer people, generally around 15-20 from the village itself.

Two views of Foresters Park from Graeme McGinty

The covered terrace was replaced a few years ago after most of the roof was blown off in a gale a while back. Behind the goal on the side of the social club is a large fence, and some free car parking. The ball often goes over the fence, so the decision to park there is often risky. There are pies and bovril available here, but I would advise you to bring a packed lunch instead!

Update Summer '03: vandals have wrecked the ground, razing the dressing rooms to the ground.

Update Spring 08: The old stand/changing rooms have gone, players changing in the new sports centre building. The covered terrace on the opposite side remains in reasonable nick though debris suggests it’s a gathering place for local ne’er do wells! Plenty of car parking at the ground next to the sports centre, and the entrance off Lindores Drive a little east of the ground entrance.
