A number of additional Claggan Park views from David Smith

Claggan Park is located beneath the range of mountains containing Ben Nevis but the ground itself fails to live up to its grand surroundings. The viewing area is set very far back from the pitch and as crowds tend to number at around 150 at best, it's easy to feel lonely in the bleakness. The basic stand is set a good 20 yards back from the touchline, and the end to its right is not used for spectators. Behind the opposite goal is are the changing rooms. Hard standing runs from here around to the other side of the pitch.

Club Information:
Fort William are a club who perhaps have a lot of potential as Lochaber is an area of untapped promise, but the current side (consisting mainly of young players) are generally regarded as the Highland League also rans and attract gates of around 50-100. The club had initially formed in 1972 though only played cup ties etc between then and their joining of the North Caledonian League in 1983. Two years of success at that level led to joining the Highland League in 1985. They have almost always struggled ever since joining from the North Caledonian League as the record below testifies.

The main stand at Mackessack Park is very smart and modern, with the rest of the ground consisting of expanses of grass. The floodlights here are absolutely massive and feel very out of place.
