Crombie Park from Steve Broughton

A number of Crombie Park views from Jamie Wire

Crombie Park is another of the well-kept but fairly undeveloped North grounds. The car park is small and overspill can make the narrow lane leading to the ground a taxing experience to drive down. Entrance is by a single gate by the changing rooms at one end of the ground, with a chain link fence surrounding the site.

There are 4 steps of slabbed terrace in front of the dressing rooms, otherwise it's flat grass with a small gravel path. The pitch is railed off and normally seems in good condition. The end furthest away from the pavilion is not a spectator area. There is a teabar at the pavilion, serving mince and steak pies, sausage rolls, hot and cold drinks and sweets. The ground also has plumbed male and female toilets.

Social Club: The club has use of the Culter Mills Social Club in the town, a large and very well appointed facility

Heathryfold Park from Kathryn MacLeod

Heathryfold is a relatively basic ground with limited cover. There is a new pavilion on one side, and adjacent to that is a section of grass banking.

Social Club: There is a large social club next to the ground

Club Information:

Sunnybank formed in 1936 as Sunnybank FP, and played in juvenile football up until the outbreak of WW2. In 1946 they amalgamated with Belmont FC and the new club applied to join the Aberdeenshire Junior set-up. They initially played at Linksfield Stadium (latterly known as the Chris Anderson Stadium) and remained there until 1958. They won the Scottish Junior Cup in 1954 in front of 22,600 fans at Hampden, beating Dundee side Lochee Harp 2-1.

In 1957 they purchased the site of Heathryfold Park from Lord Hay of Seaton for £360. The ground opened in the summer of 1958. Since the building of Heathryfold Park, a number of housing estates have been built around it which has allowed the club's Social Club to grow and in the late 1980s it had a membership number of over 1000.

The club has never been relegated.

Directions by road: From city centre (Union Street): At east end of Union Street turn left up King Street but turn left again almost immediately into North Street (A946) following this road about a mile northwards. It then becomes the A96 leading out of the north of the city and continue it for around another mile (now called the Great Northern Road). At roundabout, take first left down North Anderson Drive and then take the first left down Manor Avenue. At the end turn right into Rust Drive and then take the first right again into Heathyfold Circle. Veer right at the junction and keep veering right until Heathyfold Park is visible.

Nearest Railway Station: Aberdeen

Bus routes: A 22 (Purple Line) for Mastrick or a 23 (Yellow Line) bus for Heathryfold will drop you near to Heathryfold Park. Alternatively, take a 17 (Blue Line) or 18 (Claret Line) and ask the driver to put you off at the first stop after the Haudagain Roundabout. On alighting , turn right and take the first left. Walk up the hill and Heathryfold Park is on the right.
