Glenhead Park from Paul The Bankie

Formerly a Junior venue when used by Duntocher Hibs, the current owners are the famous Drumchapel Amateurs. 'The Hibbee' has had a lot of work carried out on it by a dedicated bank of Bankies followers. Prior to work being started the ground was a little untidy but had an enclosure for supporters. £10,000 was quoted as being the amount spent on renovating Glenhead Park. The main standing areas are down one side and at either end. Work continues to improve the facility as Bankies prepare for eventual Superleague status.

Keanie Park from Tom Ferrie

The main feature of the well-kept ground is the covered enclosure opposite the terraced side where the home support congregates. It probably holds a couple of hundred. Behind both goals are sections of grass banking, while more cover can be found next to the pie-stall which is inside the club's main building.

The nearest pub is the Thorn Inn, but Coanes' in the town centre is where to drink.

Burgh have plans to relocate to a new ground at the Thomas Shanks Memorial Park, just off Beith Road, sometime soon.

Social Club: There is no social club

Club Information:
Johnstone have a home support of around 200. An OVD Cup tie between Burgh and Glenafton in February 2000 attracted a 2000 plus gate. The ladies toilets are excellent apparently. Most members of the club's committee are under 40 (mid 20s to mid 30s) which would make it the youngest committee in the juniors. The club also has 150 season ticket holders and take around 100 fans away from home. Home fans congregate behind the dugouts and by the turnstiles.

Record attendance: 14,000 v Greenock in 1964. JB won the cup that year.

Main rivals are Renfrew.

Two views of Kilbirnie's Valefield from Brian Weir

Kilbirnie Ladeside's ground is situated at the southern end of the town near the village of Glencarnock. There are two turnstiles, one on the main road and one behind the Glengarnock end goal. The two stands are quite interesting. One is decked out with wooden sleepers for terracing while the other is (like the rest of the ground) concrete stepped. Opposite the two covered enclosures is a small open terrace. The cheapskate supporter can find many ways of viewing games here for free, either by standing on the large hill that overlooks Valefield or by looking through the mesh fence that surrounds three sides of the ground.

The Ladeside committee have worked hard to spruce up the ground, and believe it is one of the best in the West of Scotland juniors.

Social Club: There is no social club, but Garnock Labour Club is the nearest pub. To get there, turn right at above traffic lights, towards Dalry then 4th on left as you are just about to leave town

Abbey Park from Brian Weir

Abbey Park by John McCafferty

The large building beside the park is a social club that has been shut for years. The actual ground itself lacks in investment. There is a covered section of terracing behind one of the goals while the remainder of the ground is not particularly developed. There are a few lines of railway sleepers down one half of one side, and the side of the ground opposite contains a few portakabins and little else.

The ground is oval because there used to be a blaes athletics track around the pitch when Adamslie Park was used for the Kirkintilloch Highland Games. There's a pie stand on the shed side of the pavilion. Opposite here used to be a small seated stand that was demolished in 2003. There is also a fairly big section of covered terracing by the pavilion that runs down one half of Adamslie Park. Stepped terracing lines the entirety of the ground. In the social club before most home games there's a stall selling club kit and other merchandising goodies.

Craighead Park from the Thorniewood United website

Three views of Craighead Park from 'Grumberry'

Craighead Park is an odd ground. The high-roofed stand structure is quite small, holding a few hundred, and the terracing mainly consists of very steep grass banking, although one end seems to have no boundary as it rises into a mini-mountain before disappearing into a forest. Surely there is a means of getting free admission from here? At the opposite end is a small section of terracing, next to the social club. The terrace continues onto the side opposite the stand.

Tony Collins sends in additional Lochburn views

A compact ground that is devilishly hidden at the top of a hill off Lochburn Road, a red and black gate is the main entrance. Inside the ground is a health club (entry on non-matchdays is via the turnstiles!) and shop selling the usual club merchandise and fantastic pies. The pitch itself is sunk six feet below the terracing - a somewhat bizarre site. A covered terrace runs down one side of the ground and is bisected by the players tunnel.

Behind the goal opposite to the turnstiles is a brand-new section of multicoloured open bucket seating, built in time for season 1998-99. The health club is strangely positioned at the halfway line but its overhanging roof provides extra cover for anyone caught in a heavy downpour on the wrong side of the pitch. Lochburn Park is also one of the few grounds in the juniors to have floodlights.

Social Club: Yes

Club Information:
Maryhill are in terms of post-war history not a particularly strong junior side. However, they have a wealthy backer than improved both the team and the ground. Maryhill get gates of around 100-150.
