Dunterlie Park is confined by its surroundings. One side isn't used at all and the end by the changing rooms is rarely used by either home or away supporters. The other two sides of the ground are lined with concrete stepped terracing and there is a covered enclosure decked out in blue and white paint which is far bigger than it looks at first glance. The turnstiles are behind the railway line end and a snack bar can also be found here selling the usual pies and drinks.

Talbot's ground finally has a completed stand, after years of construction. Opposite the stand erection there was a covered enclosure, which had been there for years. This has now been removed and there is now open terracing.

Behind the goal to the left of the stand (purchased from Hamilton Accies' old Douglas Park ground) is another section of cover. The stand's slow completion has a history though. When it was dismantled at Douglas Park, the parts were carefully numbered for Talbot. However, someone in their infinite wisdom painted over them - leaving one hell of a teasing jigsaw!

Beith's new enclosure from Beith website

The ground is quite hard to find, lying just beyond a five a side pitch on the west side of the town. The clubhouse and refreshments canteen is midway down one side of the ground, with a covered enclosure running beyond that for about 50 yards. The club, as well as re-doing the old cover, added two new sections on the other side of the pitch. The revamped and immaculately maintained Bellsdale Park, even with it's severe slope, is one of the most interesting grounds in Scottish Junior football.

Two views of New Brandon Park from Tony Collins

An additional Bellshill view from Alistair Sharp

Bellshill moved into their new stadium in December 2003, the first game being against Sauchie Juniors in front of 450 fans. A very smart facility, it has a big terrace down one side, and plans are well underway to cover it in its entirety. There are two further open terraces at either end, with the remaining side having dugouts and nothing else. Behind the goal next to the admission gate is a club building that houses the changing rooms, male/female toilets and a teabar, while there is a hospitality area adjacent. 'Hill hope to build a clubhouse behind that goal.

Social Club: no

Club Information:
Bellshill Athletic are tipped to be one of the emerging sides for the next few years. They have bit of money behind them and attracted ex-Shotts manager Rab Sneddon away from the successful Hannah Park side to take over and lead their own Lanarkshire revolution. Big names Tommy Coyne, John McCormack and Paul McGrillen are all recent managers.

The new stand at Loch Park c/o Mark Tennant

Loch Park is a bit tatty, with a small, ramshackle covered enclosure down one side in a corner. However, an excellent set of changing rooms with a sponsors bar upstairs was recently completed, as well as a players lounge which doubles as a social club on matchdays. The ground is completely terraced elsewhere, although a new bench-seated stand (which will have a capacity of around 250) is currently is well under construction at the halfway point of the home side, by the home dugout. Across the road is the Glens Bar, a pub that has a link with the side, and served as the official social club until they built their own one.

Social Club: There is a function room that I believe is open on matchdays. Otherwise it's the Glens Bar.

Club Information:

Crowds for Glenafton are pretty small (around 100), although the numbers grow for big cup ties.

Meadow Park from Paul Crankshaw

The facilities at Meadow Park are improving. Already a new roof has been put on the stand, the terracing on one side of the ground has been improved and now work has started to build up the terraces on the stand side of the ground, the ultimate aim being to concrete the entire spectator standing area. The terracing behind the goal at the Wilson Avenue end will be reduced to six steps, and Meadow then aim to knock down a section of the wall at that corner of the ground and convert part of the former terracing and a section of the car park into a purpose-built training pitch.

There is a vast covered enclosure (ironically with the words Whiteinch Demolition Ltd written on the roof) runs the length of the ground, but it nowadays only has a capacity of 500 and two thirds of it are closed. The terracing has been demolished behind both golas and halfway down the side opposite the enclosure as part of ongoing work to improve the ground. There once was quite a good social club but it closed down. There is a pie hut between the Members Bar and the changing rooms.

Brig-O-Lea Stadium by Jamie Wire

The stand from Paul Crankshaw

The ground is very exposed to any strong winds blowing down off the hills, and unfortunately the reasonably sized covered enclosure (which holds around 150) is no protection from the harsh chill. Brig-O-Lea is another of the few Central League venues with floodlights although they are probably mainly used for training purposes. Opposite the enclosure can be found the tea bar and the changing rooms as well as a few lines of rotting wooden sleeper terracing.

New Petershill Park was opened in the summer of 2007. Upon approaching the stadium from the bottom of a hill, fans first come to the social area of the facility, which contains a bar and function room. The turnstiles are at the far end of the building. Attached to the club building is the 500 seat main stand with refreshment 'servery' and toilets next to it. To the immediate right of the stand, looking out, is a business centre, with no facility for supporters to watch the game. To the left of the stand, behind the oppiste goal, is an area of hard-standing. Opposite the stand are two steps of concrete terraces. The ground also has floodlights.

Three views of Hannah Park from Tony Collins

With the largest playing surface in Scotland, watching football at Hannah Park seems like a slightly remote experience. The big covered enclosure probably provides the best view of the park while behind the end opposite to the social club is a bit of curved terracing that seems so far away from the other end of the pitch that you might as well be at another game. Facing the enclosure is yet more stepped terracing (along with both dugouts) and behind the remaining goal is another section of curved terracing. The social club was refurbished recently and is superb. Hannah Park also has a set of floodlights that are rarely used.

If the funding can be obtained, the pitch is to be moved in order to build a 5-a-side pitch next to the social club. The enclosure will then be relocated to the other side of the park and a seated stand constructed in its current place

Social Club: There is an excellent social club

Club Information:
Shotts were rather controversially suspended from the Central League in 1995 for one season and as a result they lost a large proportion of the younger supporters. However, despite being demoted three divisions, upon their return they won all three in concecutive seasons, an amazing achievement. Nowadays SBA have a support of around 100, although Junior Cup games can bring out the fairweathers.
